Our system tracks conversions by form submissions, so you can easily find out how many visitors have opted in to your list.
However, we don’t automatically track other types of conversions, such as link clicks. At this time, to track conversions other than Leadpages form submissions, you’ll need to use third-party tracking code, as described here: Use Third-Party Analytics.
The conversion goal feature
In our Standard Builder, you may notice a “conversion goal” option. The feature was designed so you could specify a second Leadpage as a target. Then, when a visitor went from your first page to the second, they’d count as a conversion.
Our entire analytics system has been updated to be faster and more accurate than ever. However, conversion goals aren’t supported at this time.
Existing conversion goals
Any existing pages that use conversion goals (and don’t have an opt-in form) will report zero conversions. However, you can follow the steps below in either our Drag & Drop or Standard Builder to estimate conversions that don’t involve a form.
- Set up at least two Leadpages—one that visitors land on before converting, and one they’ll land on after converting.
- Direct visitors to your second Leadpage after they perform the action you want to track. (For instance, direct customers to a thank you page after they make a purchase from your shopping cart.)
- Limit traffic to your second page, and avoid linking to it from anywhere outside your funnel.
It’s important to keep your second page’s traffic limited. If you link to it from multiple sources, unique views will be skewed, as visitors may come to the page without converting.
When your funnel is set up as described above, you can use your second page’s total unique views to estimate total conversions. To get your conversion rate, divide the number of unique views from the second Leadpage by those from the first, then multiply by 100.
If your first page had 1,200 unique views and your second page had 130, your conversion rate would be around 10.8%.
